Alternative Rock Vinyl Album Cover – "Finding Yourself"

This vinyl album cover was designed for an alternative rock project centered on themes of self-discovery and belonging as a young adult. I photographed the subject in Grand Central Station using a Canon camera, capturing the emotion of movement and isolation in a crowded space. In Photoshop, I applied motion blur and a custom filter to evoke a sense of disorientation and introspection, then composited additional figures into the scene to enhance the atmosphere. I finalized the artwork in Procreate by outlining the figures, adding a hand-drawn, expressive touch to reflect the raw and personal nature of the music.

The process

Photography – I captured the main subject on location using a Canon camera, carefully framing the composition to create a feeling of motion and isolation.

Photoshop Editing – I applied motion blur to emphasize movement and added a custom filter to give the image a moody, surreal tone. Additional figures were composited into the scene to amplify the sense of crowd vs. individuality.

Illustration in Procreate – I imported the edited photo into Procreate, using brushes to outline the figures. This added a hand-drawn, artistic layer that reflects the personal, emotional theme of the album.
